Box Score Bloomfield, N.J. - (9/23/2017) – The Scarlet and Gold traveled to Bloomfield College for today's, Saturday, September 23, Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match. The Bears welcomed Chestnut Hill College with a 25-15 defeat in the opening set. The Griffins gave the home team more of a challenge in the second, 25-22, and third, 25-23, sets, but would lose the league match by a 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-23) end. Junior setter
Kennedy Sutton (Chesapeake, Va.) captained the Scarlet and Gold with two kills, 25 assists, three aces, and 11 digs.
Bloomfield College (5-7, 4-0) separated midway through the opening set, using a 7-1 run to secure a 13-8 advantage over Chestnut Hill College (2-12, 1-3). The Griffins competed with the Bears to an 18-13 spread, but eventually gave way in a 7-2 closing run by the Bears, 25-15. The second set was tied as late as 11-11 that in part to back-to-back kills from sophomore middle hitter
Cassie Callahan (St. Louis, Mo.). Unfortunately, her attacks were countered by a 6-0 Bloomfield College run the left he spread at 17-11. The CACC rivals traded points the rest of the way, eventually running the Griffins out of time in a 25-22 final. On the service of Sutton and a determined spirit, the Scarlet and Gold grabbed an 8-1 edge at the start of the third set. Chestnut Hill College was able to push their advantage to 11-3 before things fell apart as Bloomfield College narrowed the spread to one point at 16-15 and tied it at 20-20 before beating the Griffins to a 25-23 end.
Sophomore outside hitter Danielle Quintanar (El Paso, Texas) recorded a match-high 11 kills for the Bears. She also offered two aces and ten digs. Junior outside hitter Jandra Fabian (Santio Domingo, Dominican Republic) and freshman middle blocker Ashley Stroot (Rolesville, N.C.) were factors as well; the former with 10 kills, an ace, two solo blocks, and nine digs and the latter with eight kills, an assist, an ace, two solo blocks, and three digs. Freshman libero Junelly Marrero (Las Vegas, Puerto Rico) was the playmaker for Bloomfield College, supplying 26 assists and 11 digs in addition to her four aces.

Ragen Baldwin (Lancaster, Pa.) benefitted the most from Sutton's sets. They both recorded seven kills; Baldwin also totaled two solo blocks and two digs. Sophomore outside hitter
Reily Byxbee (Madison, Conn.) and senior libero
Peyton Reno (Wilmington, Del.) joined Sutton in double digit digs. Byxbee paired her 12 digs with six kills, while Reno added two assists to her 20 digs.
