Billy Bethel (Yardley, Pa.) threw five innings of scoreless relief, allowing just three hits and a walk while striking out four.
Chestnut Hill College (4-5) got on the scoreboard in the their first at-bat, using a lead-off double from Uzzell, a one-out walk to Craig, a double steal, a two-out walk to junior catcher
Eric Gilham (Deptford, N.J.) and the third hit-by-pitch of the season for junior left fielder
Eric Small (Downingtown, Pa.) to manufacture the tally. But Palm Beach Atlantic University (16-5) got the run back in the bottom of the second inning and later made up for a fifth-inning two-run single from Small and a sixth-inning, run-scoring single from Gilham with a sixth-inning three-run home run, 4-4. From there, the bullpen performance of Bethel carried the Griffins through five scoreless at-bats before turning the ball over. In the 12
th inning, a lead-off hit batsman gave the Sailfish a base runner. After a sacrifice bunt, the Scarlet and Gold improved their chances with an intentional walk only to have a double down the left field line plate the winning run, 5-4.
Craig was 3-for-3 with two runs, singling in the fifth and sixth innings, and doubling in the eighth inning, while also drawing four walks in between. Sophomore shortstop
