Box Score 2 Lafayette Hill, Pa. – (3/28/2018) – Competing for the first time in 10 days, Chestnut Hill College visited Felician University for today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader. The Griffins and Golden Falcons split the twin bill as the Scarlet and Gold provided junior
Dino Cattai (Philadelphia, Pa.) with plenty of run support in a 7-2 game-one victory, before the Griffin bats only plated senior center fielder
Demetrius Isaac (Philadelphia, Pa.) in the seventh inning of a 3-1 game-two final.
Chestnut Hill College (5-8, 1-3) put the first two runs of the afternoon in the second inning of game one. Senior first baseman
Matthew Owens (Cherry Hill, N.J.) led off the at-bat reaching on an error by the Felician University (5-15, 3-1) shortstop and scored just a few pitches later, when junior catcher
Eric Gilham (Deptford, N.J.) tripled to left center, 1-0. The following ground out from sophomore designated hitter
Erving Nazario (Hamilton, N.J.) plated the second Scarlet and Gold run of the frame, 2-0. Nazario knocked in another Griffin run in the fourth inning, singling through the right side to capitalize on a leadoff walk from senior shortstop
Alec Craig (Hammonton, N.J.), 3-0. The Chestnut Hill College lead reached 5-0 in the sixth inning, thanks to a leadoff double from Craig, an error on the Golden Falcon left fielder, and a Gilham single through the middle. Felician University got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth inning, 5-1, before Gilham plated Owens and Nazario batted in Gilham in the eighth inning, 7-1. A one-run, eighth inning rebuttal from Felician University reduced the final measure to five runs, 7-2.
Gilham was 4-for-4 with two runs and three runs-batted-in (RBI). Nazario was 3-for-4 with three RBI. Cattai (2-0) limited the Golden Falcons to their two runs on eight hits in his second win of the season. He struck out four.
In game two, junior
Matthew Kress (Lansdale, Pa.) gave a valiant effort. Unfortunately, the Griffins were only able to score Isaac on Craig's two-out single in the seventh inning. Meanwhile Felician University scored runs in the first, third, and fifth innings to get a 3-1 pay back. Kress (2-2) held the Golden Falcons to three runs on eight hits, while striking out four in the loss. Isaac was 2-for-3. Craig and freshman second baseman
Jared Healey (Philadelphia, Pa.).
The Chestnut Hill College baseball team returns to their non-conference schedule tomorrow, Thursday, March 29, when they visit West Chester University for a 3:00 p.m. contest.
