Box Score 2 Norristown, Pa. – (4/11/2018) – Using the program's 200
th win as a springboard to success, Chestnut Hill College took a pair of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) games from Jefferson in today's league doubleheader; both by 7-3 finals. Senior shortstop
Alec Craig (Hammonton, N.J.) recorded his 150
th career hit to push the Griffins ahead 4-3 in the seventh inning of game one, then went 3-for-3 to contribute to four Scarlet and God runs in game two. On the mound, juniors
Dino Cattai (Philadelphia, Pa.) and
Matthew Kress (Lansdale, Pa.) were equally impressive; the former earned his fourth win (4-0) of the season and struck out eight Rams, while the latter evened his record at 3-3 and limited the visitors to one run on four hits and a walk in the first six innings of game two.

Chestnut Hill College (11-13, 7-7) used their game-one momentum to take a 4-0 lead in the third inning of game two. There, a leadoff triple to left center from freshman right fielder
John Contoudis (Jenkintown, Pa.) and a following single to left field from freshman third baseman
Jared Healey (Philadelphia, Pa.) score the first of the Scarlet and Gold tallies, 1-0. The other three crossed on a series of two-out hits from sophomore designated hitter
Erving Nazario (Hamilton, N.J.), 2-0, Craig, 3-0, and junior catcher
Eric Gilham (Deptford, N.J.), 4-0. In the fourth inning, Contoudis' first collegiate home run made it 5-0 and an inning later the Griffin advantage reached 7-0 with a pair of pair of run-scoring triples from Craig and senior first baseman
Matthew Owens (Cherry Hill, N.J.). Unfortunately, a couple of Scarlet and Gold errors allowed Jefferson (8-19, 5-8) to spoil the shutout in their final at-bat, 7-3.
In the opener, the Rams took a 3-0 lead before Cattai settled in. But his offense had his back, scoring the first Griffin run on a fourth-inning, two-out, infield single from Owens, 3-1, and the second on a sixth-inning sacrifice fly from junior left fielder
Eric Small (Downingtown, Pa.), 3-2, before taking the lead with a three-run seventh inning. There, senior center fielder
Demetrius Isaac (Philadelphia, Pa.) led off the at-bat with a single to centerfield before stealing second and scoring the game-tying run on a single through the right side from sophomore second baseman
Amier Uzzell (Levittown, Pa.), 3-3. Chestnut Hill College took the lead just moments later, when Craig tripled for his milestone hit, 4-3, and then expanded their lead with a Gilham sacrifice fly, 5-3. The Scarlet and Gold added two more runs in the eighth inning with a one-out single from Isaac, 6-3, and a Craig sacrifice fly, 7-3. Isaac was the only Griffin to record multiple hits (2-for-4), while Cattai allowed two earned runs on four hits and four walks over eight inning of work.
The Chestnut Hill College baseball team continues a busy week of CACC competition on Friday, April 13, when they visit Wilmington University for a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader.
