Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 New Castle, Del. – (4/13/2018) – Today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader was an exchange of blowouts with Chestnut Hill College winning the opener 15-5 and Wilmington University taking the nightcap 13-0. Senior shortstop Alec Craig (Hammonton, N.J.) and senior first baseman Matthew Owens (Cherry Hill, N.J.) both homered twice in the Griffins' game-one success, while sophomore second baseman Ameir Uzzell (Levittown, Pa.) and freshman right fielder Sam Barletta (Royersford, Pa.) recorded the Scarlet and Gold's only hits of game two.
 
Uzzell led off game two with a double down the third base line and Barletta led off the sixth inning with a single down the left field line, but Chestnut Hill College (12-14, 8-8) was unable to produce a run in either frame. Meanwhile, Wilmington University (15-13, 12-4) scored three runs in the first inning, 3-0, two runs in the second inning, 5-0, and eight runs in the fourth inning, to run away with a 13-0 revenge.
 
In the opener, Chestnut Hill College separated with a 10-run eighth inning. The contest was competitive prior to that as Wilmington University outscored the Griffins 3-1 in the third inning, only for the Griffins to return the favor with a 4-1 edge in the fourth inning, 5-4. The Wildcats evened the affair in the bottom of the seventh inning, 5-5, but in the eighth inning, the Scarlet and Gold platted 10 runs on eight hits and three walks, 15-5. Craig led off the inning with a double and smacked a grand slam latter in the at-bat. Meanwhile, Owens crushed a three-run home run in his first at-bat of the frame and later singling to left field.
 
The Chestnut Hill College baseball team continues a busy CACC schedule tomorrow, Saturday, April 13, at Latshaw-McCarthy Field with a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader versus Dominican College.
