Griffins Continue Fall Slate at CACC Golf Championship

Philadelphia, Pa. (10/4/2019) -- Chestnut Hill College heads to White Beeches Country Club in Haworth, N.J. for the 2019 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's golf championship. The event, hosted by Dominican College, gets underway Sunday, October 6 with a practice round and banquet before the two-day tournament tees off Monday and Tuesday at 8 a.m. The final tee time for each day is at 10:20 a.m. and the rounds will conclude by 3 p.m.

The CACC Network will broadcast the tournament, which is the first of the CACC championships during the 2019-20 slate. Coverage will be available for both rounds at the first hole and 18th hole. The streaming service is available online  (CACCNetwork.com ) and can be accessed through the CACC Network app, which is available on mobile devices through ITunes and Google Play, as well as on Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Android TV. 

Following two tournaments to begin the team's fall schedule, the Griffins are led by seniors Shawn Mayer (Brick, N.J.) and Taylor Mezzatesta (Forest Hill, Md.), as well as freshman David Schmidling (Hockessin, Del.). The trio each posted top 15 finishes at the Frederick W. Anton Memoria tournament (9/15/19), in which Chestnut Hill College placed second among the 19 teams. Mezzatesta and Schmidling tied for ninth in the single-round event, shooting a 74 (+3). Mayer placed 14th, shooting a 76 (+5).

Mayer was the top performer for the Griffins at the Franklin Pierce University Fall Invitational (9/9/19). He finished 24th with a two-round total of 152 (74-78, +8) strokes as Chestnut Hill College placed 10th among the 14 teams. Mezzatesta posted a 162 (82-80, +18) and Schmidling posted a 165 (86-79, +21) at the event.

Sophomore Ryan Woelfling (Myerstown, Pa.), and freshman Drew Maiorca (Lake Placid, N.Y.) both saw action during those events, shooting a 77 (+6) and 78 (+7), respectively, at the Frederick W. Anton Memoria tournament. Woelfling opened the season at the Franklin Pierce University Fall Invitational with a two-round total of 169 (88-81, +25) strokes, while Maiorca had a single round 75 (+3) on the second day of the tournament.
