Chestnut Hill College (27-21, 21-11) visited Dominican College (26-23, 17-15) for their CACC regular season doubles on Sunday, April 28. The Chargers won a high-scoring opener 15-12, but the Scarlet and Gold got even in game two behind a shutout from sophomore
Thomas Hughes (Phoenixville, Pa.); 15-0. Senior catcher
Eric Gilham (Deptford, N.J.) led a host of Griffins who enjoyed impressive offensive performances as he went 5-for-8 in the twin bill with four doubles, two runs, and six runs-batted-in (RBI).
In game one, a Chestnut Hill College five-run third inning was overshadowed by a Dominican College eight-run fourth inning. The contest was tied at 9-9 after five frames, but was far from finished as the Chargers used a three-run sixth inning to outrun the Scarlet and Gold to a 15-12 end. Freshman second baseman
Luke LeBeau (Pittsfield, Mass.) (3-for-5, 1R, 3RBI) and sophomore first baseman
Andrew Dietz (Warrington, Pa.) (3-for-5, 2R) recorded three hits apiece to lead five Griffins with multi-hit games; LeBeau, who led the totaled three RBI, singled in a pair of runs in the fifth inning and another in the seventh inning.
Hughes dominated Dominican College in game two, holding the Chargers to just two hits and walk, while striking out five in his first career shutout. Meanwhile his teammates provided plenty of run support with a run in the first inning (1-0), two runs in the third inning (3-0), three runs in the fourth inning (6-0), six runs in the sixth inning (12-0), and three runs in the seventh inning; 15-0). Junior third baseman
Ameir Uzzell (Levittown, Pa.) (3-for-4, 3R), sophomore centerfielder
John Contoudis (Jenkintown, Pa.) (3-for-4, 4R, 4RBI), Gilham (3-for-4, 1R, 4RBI), and sophomore left fielder
Michael Perugini (Tamarac, Fla.) (3-for-4, 3R) recorded three hits apiece; Contoudis contributed to eight of the Griffins' 15 runs with four runs and four RBI.
