Philadelphia, Pa. - (3/27/2021) – A first-place finish in the 400-Meter from sophomore Ish Americain (Secane, Pa.) (52:34) was the highlight of Chestnut Hill College's time at the Millersville University Little Meet. The event was the first in for the Griffins since the 2019 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championships and the first in the career of Head Coach Maria Stickley; both the men (6th of 6, 51 points) and women (6th of 6, 4 points) finished sixth in six-team fields. Goldey-Beacom College topped the men's standings with 216 points, while Millersville University paced the women's field with score of 280.
Freshman Charlize Rios (Philadelphia, Pa.) finished fifth in the women's 400-Meter (5th, 1:18.82) to earn four points for Chestnut Hill College. Later, freshman Carly Morginstin (Upper Dublin, Pa.) ran for a personal best in the 800-Meter with her time of 2:57.35.
American's 400-Meter finish scored 10 of the Griffins' 51 points in the men's results. Several other Griffins gave great efforts in the first meet of the 2021 season, including additional CACC qualifying finishes from sophomore Pierson Dyson (Baltimore, Md.) (100-Meter; 3rd, 11.33), freshman Elijah Fogg (Somers Point, N.J.) (Shot Put; 4th, 11.01 meters), and freshman Jason Chedester (Lancaster, Pa.) (Shot Put; 5th, 10.46). Freshman Damir Kee (Somerdale, N.J.) offered a personal best in the 400-Meter, finishing behind American with a time of 53.77 (4th). Freshman Mutahir Abbasi placed sixth (6th, 24:37) in the 200-Meter with senior Matthew Williams (Somers Point, N.J.) and sophomore Jayvond Kelly (Washington, DC) respectively following in seventh (7th, 24.98) and eighth (8th, 25.99) place. Freshmen Jason Fisher (Reading, Pa.) and Devin Caban (Bayonne, N.J.) competed in the five-kilometer race, they finished fourth (4th, 17:27.27) and fifth (5th, 17:33.90) respectively.
Chestnut Hill College track and field returns to action on Saturday April 17, when they visit East Stroudsburg University for the All-American Meet.
