Chestnut Hill College Visits White Beaches For CACC Golf Championship

Philadelphia, Pa. - (4/18/2021) – Chestnut Hill College will join their fellow league members at Haworth, New Jersey's White Beaches Golf Club on Monday, April 18 for the 2021 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship. The CACC Network will broadcast all the action from the first and second holes beginning at 10:00 a.m. with a pre-round coverage preceding at 9:30 a.m. Fans can watch the CACC Network in a variety of ways, including online at caccnetwork.com, and through the network's app on Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV, Android TV, and through the iTunes and Google Play stores. Live scoring of the event will also be available via Golfstat.com.

Chestnut Hill College opened their 2021 schedule on Tuesday, March 16, with a tri-match versus fellow league members Thomas Jefferson University and Dominican College. The Rams hosted the event at the Union League's Liberty Hill course – formerly the ACE Club – where the Chargers proved the best in the field with a team score of 310 (+22). The Griffins finished second, only a dozen strokes behind; 322 (+34). Host, Jefferson finished third with 342 (+54) strokes. A balanced scoring foursome consisted of junior Ryan Woelfling (Myerstown, Pa.) (4th, 80, +8), sophomore Drew Maiorca (Lake Placid, N.Y.) (T5th, 81, +9), freshman Paul Schulte (Cape May Court House, N.J.) (T5th, 81, +9), and sophomore David Schmidling (Hockessin, Del.) (T5th, 81, +9).

A couple week later, the Griffins returned to Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania's Sunnybrook Golf Club for the first time since the COVID shutdown to host the Griffin Invitational (March 29 – 30). The Scarlet and Gold rested fourth in the seven-team field (4th of 7, 337, +49) after a breezy first day of play that saw Maiorca and Woelfling tie for ninth on the individual leaderboard with matching rounds of 82 (+10). The Scarlet and Gold maintained their fourth-place standing at the end of day two, but improved their overall performance by 13 strokes (324, +36); 4th of 7 (661; 337-324, +85). Maiorca offered a second-round 76 (+4) to land a fourth-place finish (4th, 158; 82-76, +14) in the 35-man field.

On April 5, Chestnut Hill College finished day one of West Chester University's Dr. Edwin Cottrell Invitational in seventh place (7th of 12) with 317 (+33) team strokes. The Griffins were led by a pair of 78's (+7) from Woelfling (T15th) and sophomore Conor Regan (Mullica Hill, N.J.) (T15th). On  the second day, Schulte was the Griffins' top competitor with his 78 (+7) leaving him tied for 19th  with his two-day score of 157 (+15). He powered Chestnut Hill College to a second-round 330 (+46) that left the Griffins an eight-place tie with their host; T8th, 647; 317-330, +79).

Chestnut Hill College finished their regular-season schedule where it began - at Liberty Hill Golf Club - as they recorded a distant second-place finish (2nd of 10, 310, +22) in the April-13 Jefferson Classic. Woelfling and Schulte recorded top-10 finishes for the Griffins, respectively tying for fifth and seventh with rounds of 75 (+3) and 76 (+4).
