Chestnut Hill College Celebrates All-CACC Baseball Recognition for Uzzell, Barletta, and Dietz

New Haven, Conn. - (5/11/2021) – Following the conclusion of the quarterfinal round, league commissioner Dan Mara has officially released the 2021 All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Team and Major Award Winners. Chestnut Hill College offered three all-conference performers as senior designated hitter Ameir Uzzell (Levittown, Pa.) and junior catcher Sam Barletta (Royersford, Pa.) garnered First Team honors ahead of a Second Team selection for junior utility player/pitcher Andrew Dietz (Warrington, Pa.). Dominican College senior shortstop Joshua Colon (Bronx, N.Y.) was named the 2021 CACC Baseball Player of the Year, while the CACC Rookie and Coach of the Year awards went to Goldey-Beacom College freshman first baseman Garrett Musey (Millville, N.J.) and Head Coach Tom Riley. Thomas Jefferson University (Jefferson) senior Jack Galligan (New City, N.Y.) was named the 2021 CACC Baseball Pitcher of the Year and Nyack College was recognized with the 2021 CACC Baseball Team Sportsmanship Award.

Dietz was joined on the All-CACC Second Team by Bloomfield College junior third baseman Tyree Bradley (West Orange, N.J.), junior catcher Elvis Lopez (Randolph, N.J.), and junior pitcher Wilfredo Valenzuela (Paterson, N.J.), Caldwell University senior relief pitcher Michael Hess (Valley Cottage, N.Y.), Dominican College junior pitcher Jaden Diaz-Lambert (Erial, N.J.) and sophomore outfielder Brian Sanders (La Ceiba, Honduras), Felician University senior outfielder Mike Martinez (Union City, N.J.) and sophomore designated hitter Levi Aguila (Miramar, Fla.), Goldey-Beacom College sophomore second baseman Connor Megginson (Harbeson, Del.), sophomore shortstop Mason Maxwell (Newfield, N.J.), junior pitcher Mitch Guerrieri (Greentown, Pa.), and freshman utility Kyle Walker (Wilmington, Del.), as well as Jefferson freshman pitcher Jem Sisco (Southampton, N.Y.) and freshman outfielder Ryan Sawyer (West Deptford, N.J.).
 
2021 All-CACC Baseball; Sam Barletta (1st Team)Colon currently ranks second in the league in batting (.422; 43-for-102), fifth in on-base percentage (.500), and third in slugging percentage (.843). He has scored 27 (15th) runs and knocked in 35 (6th) with 10 doubles (6th), six triples (2nd), seven home runs (8th), and 13 walks (31st).
 
Musey stands 11th in batting (.384; 28-for-73), second in on-base percentage (.511), and fourth in slugging percentage (.808). He has scored 28 runs (13th) and knocked in 23 runs (21st), with five doubles (32nd), a triple (28th), eight home runs (2nd), and 11 walks (41st).
 
Galligan led the CACC in wins (6), complete games (2), and strikeouts (46). Over 41.1 innings pitched (3rd), he allowed 13 runs (59th) on 25 hits (41st) and 17 walks (17th). Galligan averaged 10.02 strikeouts per game (8th) and held the opposition to a .180 (25-for-139) batting average.
 
Goldey-Beacom College Head Coach Tom Riley led the Lightning the top seed in the CACC South Division with a league-best 19-5 (.792) conference record. Goldey-Beacom College finished the season with a 20-7 (.741) overall mark, but were eliminated from the 2021 CACC Baseball Championship Tournament with a 9-6 quarterfinal loss to #4S Chestnut Hill College (May 10).
 
2021 All-CACC Baseball; Andrew Dietz (2nd Team)Uzzell positions 27th in batting (.343; 35-for-102), 14th in on-base percentage (.478), and 22nd in slugging percentage (.588), but is among the CACC Top-10 in plate appearances (4th, 136), at-bats (7th, 102), runs (2nd, 42), doubles (6th, 10), runs-batted-in (RBI) (9th, 31), walks (3rd, 19), hit-by-pitch (2nd, 11), sacrifice flies (3rd, 4), and stolen bases (2nd, 16). He made a CACC Baseball Weekly Honor Roll appearance on April 19, after batting .444 (12-for-27) with five doubles and two home runs during a 5-2 week of league play against Jefferson (W, 10-5/L, 4-6 on April 12), USciences (W, 10-5 on April 14 and L, 6-13/W, 6-5 on April 18), and Caldwell University (W, 9-8 (8)/W, 8-1 on April 16).
 
Barletta is among the CACC's top-five in batting (5th, .398; 43-for-108) and on-base percentage (1st, .522); he leads the league in the latter as well as plate appearances (140), runs (44), walks (23), and stolen bases (17). The Scarlet and Gold's backstop additionally ranks top-five in at-bats (5th, 108), hits (3rd, 43), doubles (3rd, 11), and triples (5th, 4). Barletta was named the CACC Baseball Player of the Week on April 26 and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II (DII) East Region Hitter of the Week on April 29 after producing a .909 (10-for-11)/1.273/.929 (AVG/SLG/OBP) slash line that resulted in seven runs and seven RBI versus Wilmington University (W, 4-2 on April 20) and Bloomfield College (W, 19-0 and W, 15-3 on April 22). He also earned the league's weekly player title on March 15.    
 
Dietz boast's the league's seventh best batting average (.395; 47-for-119) while splitting his field time between first base and the pitcher's mound. He leads the league in at-bats (119) and hits (47), while offering top-five numbers in RBI (2nd, 41), total bases (5th, 70), sacrifice flies (5th, 3), stolen bases (2nd, 16), and games started (3rd, 7). He ranks seventh in strikeouts (42) while sporting a 2-2 record (9 Appearances – 7 games started, 30.2 innings pitched) on a 6.16 earned run average (ERA). Dietz earned CACC Baseball Weekly Honor Roll appearances on May 10 and March 22.
