Chestnut Hill College Track and Field Athletes Anastasia Watson and Natalya Heard have been recognized by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference for the school record breaking performances in the Griffins' season opening track meet last Saturday.

Watson (Claymont, Del.) was named the CACC Co-Field Athlete and Field Rookie of the Week while Heard (Bloomsburg, Pa.) was named the CACC Co-Track Athlete and Rookie of the Week.

Competing at the Lloyd Sigler Spring Meet at Salisbury University, Watson broke two school records on the afternoon in grand fashion, shattering the old record of 9.39 meters (Samaria Turner-2019) in the shot put with a toss of 11.01 meters (36' 1½") placing fifth overall.  Watson did the same in the discus throw besting the old record of 28.81 meters (Darby White-2016) by over 20 feet with a throw of 35.90 meters (117' 9") while beating all 11 other competitors en route to a first-place finish.  Both performances bettered the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference qualifying standards.

On the track, Heard blew away the competition in the 400 meter dash, finishing the race in 1:00.52 and establishing a new school record in the process.  Heard beat the old record of 1:04.18 (Brittany Kahhan- 2019) by nearly four seconds and also qualified for the CACC Championship meet with her time.

The Chestnut Hill College Women's Track and Field Team will return to action on Saturday, March 26, 2022 when they compete at the Stockton Invite.
