Five members of the Chestnut Hill College Men's Tennis team have been named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference All Conference teams as announced by the conference office Tuesday morning. Voting was done by the league coaches.
In addition the coaches voted to give the annual Team Sportsmanship Award to Chestnut Hill along with Dominican College.
Tom Pitchley ( London, England) and
Joao Sousa (Figueroa de foz, Portugal) were selected as first team honorees while
Noah Cutting (Bury St. Edmonds, England),
Joseph Gregory Kvint (Huntington Valley, Pa.) and
Domagoj Dugandzic (Stuttgart, Germany) earned second team accolades.
This season's first team selection marks the third consecutive year Pitchley has earned all-CACC honors, having earned first team accolades in 2019 and Player of the Year and first team honors in 2021. (There was no All-CACC team selected in 2020 due to the pandemic).
Sousa and Dugandzic are also repeat selections as All-CACC honorees with both players earning second team accolades in 2021.
Pitchley, the 2021 CACC Player of the Year compiled a 5-3 record against the top players in the CACC this season at #1 singles, including two wins over this year's CACC Player of the Year Hubert Theriault. Teaming with Kvint at #1 doubles, the duo produced an 8-4 overall record and a 5-3 mark in conference play. Pitchley completed the regular season with 16 total wins (seven singles and nine doubles)
Sousa had the top singles mark Chestnut Hill players with a 10-4 overall record and a 7-1 conference mark at #4 singles. His only conference loss was to fellow first team All-CACC honoree Hannibal Borg of Jefferson. Sousa teamed with Dugandzic at #3 doubles to record a perfect 7-0 conference record and a 10-1 mark overall. He finished the regular season with 21 total wins (10 singles, 11 doubles)
Dugandzic earns his second straight All-CACC accolade this year, compiling an 8-5 overall record in singles , primarily at #5 singles and an 11-2 mark in doubles, mostly at #3, including a perfect 7-0 conference mark. He finished the regular season with 19 total wins.
Cutting a first time all-CACC honoree was 9-4 overall in singles competition this season at all #2 singles and 10-3 at doubles teaming with
Mark Gladkyy. His 19 total wins were tied for second on the team behind Sousa.
Kvint also earns All-CACC honors for the first time, compiling a 8-4 doubles record teaming with Pitchley at #1 doubles. And was 5-9 at #3 singles.
The Chestnut Hill Men's Tennis team will face Post University in the CACC semi-finals on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at the CHC Tennis Courts. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
