Chedester Breaks Shot Put Record as Griffins conclude Season at CACC Championships

Jason Chedester and Elijah Fogg both broke the Chestnut Hill College school record for the shot put within minutes of each other Wednesday afternoon at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship meet Wednesday afternoon at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, New Jersey.

Entering the meet, Fogg held the mark at 11.44 meters which he set just ten days earlier on April 30, 2022 at the Paul Kaiser Invitational at Shippensburg University.  He eclipsed that mark on his second toss of the day with a throw of 11.49 meters (37' 8½") establishing a new school standard.

The standard was shortlived as Chedester on his third and final throw tossed the shot 11.69 meters (38' 4¼") breaking Fogg's record set minutes earlier.  Chedester and Fogg finished 11th and 12th respectively in the competition.

Teammate John Castro also threw a personal collegiate best in the event with a toss of 9.82 meters (32' 2¾") to finish 15th overall.

Castro and Chedester also competed in the javelin throw to open the day.  Castro has a toss of 32.36 meters (106' 2") to place 13th overall while Chedester threw the javelin 41.79 meters (138' 1") to place tenth overall.

The Griffins finished the meet in 11th place with nine points.  Georgian Court won the meet with a total of 240 points.

The meet concludes the 2022 Outdoor Track and field season for the Griffins.
