Four Personal Best Marks Set as Griffins Compete at CACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships

The Chestnut Hill College Men's Track and Field team scored in four events and also set four collegiate personal best marks as the competed at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships Saturday and Sunday at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, New Jersey.

Saturday's rain and wind wiped out all the preliminary heats and field events as only the 10,000 meter race was held.  Sunday's events were all contested on the track with the field events being moved to Wednesday, May 11, 2022.

Jason Fisher (Reading, Pa.) was the Griffins' lone competitor in the 10,000 meter race on Saturday.  Battling the elements (driving rain and winds), the sophomore runner finished in eighth place overall with a collegiate personal best time of 36:07.12.  The eighth place finish gave the Griffins a point.  Fisher's time was also the eighth fastest 10,000 meter time in program history.  Fisher also ran in the 5,000 meter run on Sunday, placing 14th overall with a time of 17:11.06

On Sunday Chris Nelson (Swedesboro, N.J.) placed eighth in the 1,500 meter run with a collegiate personal best time of 4:17.70, scoring another point for the Griffins.  Nelson later ran the 5,000 meter run, coming across the finish line in fifth place overall with a time of 16:05.85, the second fastest 5K time by a Griffin this season and the 12th fastest all-time.  His fifth place finish gave the Griffins four more points.

The Griffins remaining points were scored in the 4x100 meter relay as the team of Tyheem Bailey (Philadelphia, Pa.), Damir Kee (Somerdale, N.J.), Tyler Smith (Ruther Glen, Va.) and Branden Moye (Woodbury, N.J.) raced to a sixth place finish with a time of 45.63 seconds, good for three more points.

Kee won his 400 meter dash heat and finished ninth overall with a collegiate personal best time of 52.12 seconds.  His time was also the eighth fastest 400 meter dash time in program history.

Bailey also equaled his collegiate personal best mark in the 100 meter dash, placing 14th overall with a time of 11.50 seconds.  Moye finished the event in 11.76 seconds and also ran the 200 meters dash finishing with a time of 24.25

Cole Stanchina (Easton, Pa.), like Nelson doubled on the day, competing in the 5,000 meter and 1,500 meter runs.  Stanchina placed ninth in the 5,00 meter run with a time of 16:30.25 and 16th in the 1,500 with a time of 4:35.31.

Through 12 track events, the Chestnut Hill College Men's Track and Field team has 9 points and currently sits in tenth place overall.  Georgian Court University is leading the meet at present with 126 points.
