Sydney Watts recorded a top ten finish and was the Chestnut Hill College Women's Cross Country team's top finisher as the Griffins competed at the Philadelphia Metro Cross country championship on Saturday at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia.
Watts (Swedesboro, N.J.) finished fourth overall among the 72 competitors with a time of 21:47.0 for the 5,000-meter race, less than two seconds behind third place finisher Briseidy Balderas of Felician University.
Felician won the team title placing all five scorers in the top 11 to finish with 22 points. Host Jefferson University was second with 47 points. The Griffins did not produce a team score.
Aubrey Elias (Bethlehem, Pa.) was the second Griffin to cross the finish line, completing the 5,000-meter course in 25:33.6.
Taylor Kirby (Westfield, N.J.) rounded out the Griffins competitors finishing in 29:17.2.
The Chestnut Hill College Women's Cross Country team returns to action on Friday, September 16, 2022 when they compete at the Goldey-Beacom College Invitational at Carousel Park in Wilmington, Delaware.
