The Chestnut Hill College Women's Cross Country team returned to action on Friday afternoon with all five runners turning in collegiate personal best marks at the 48th Annual Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University on Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
In a highly competitive field of 42 schools the Griffins placed 36th overall, one point behind CACC rival Georgian Court University. Widener University won the team scoring with 84 points.
Sydney Watts ran the fifth fastest 6,000-meter race in school history with a personal-best time of 24:33.8 to place 118
th overall out of 331 runners. Watts' time is also the second fastest time ever run by a Griffin on the Paul Short course (Mackenzie Hooven ran 24:30 in 2017).
Gabby Hassler, competing in her first collegiate race, placed 138
th overall with a time of 24:58.8, the Griffins' third fastest time ever on the Paul Short course.Â
Aubrey Elias also recorded a personal best mark with a time of 26:54.7.
The Griffins' final two finishers,
Taylor Kirby and
Lilly Short rounded out the list of personal best achievements with times of 31:15.7 and 31:21.3 respectively. For Kirby it was her first collegiate 6,000-meter race.
