Three members of the Chestnut Hill College Women's Cross Country team placed in the top five overall, leading the Griffins to a second place finish at the Cairn Cup Cross Country Meet Wednesday afternoon in Langhorne, Pennsylvania.
The Griffins finished with 60 total points. Host Cairn University won the race with 39 points.
Sydney Watts led the way for Chestnut Hill, finishing the 6,000-meter race in second place with a time of 26:16.47, just 14 seconds behind the winner who hailed from Cairn University. Watts was followed by Gabby Hassler in fourth place with a time of 26:48.06 and Aubrey Elias in fifth place with a time of 27:56.07.
Rounding out the Griffins finishers were Deanna Otero and Erin McCarthy. Otero placed 18th overall with a time of 35:51 while McCarthy, making her cross country debut, finished in 44:55.
Wednesday's race was the final tune-up before the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship meet, held at Belmont Plateau on October 22, 2023.
