Haughton and Regan Named to CSC Academic All-District® Men's Basketball Team

Two members of the Chestnut Hill College Men's Basketball team have been named to the 2022-23 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District®  Men's Basketball Team in an announcement made by the organization and the CSC Academic All-America® committee.

Named to the Academic All-District team were juniors Nigel Haughton and Conor Regan.

The 2022-23 Academic All-District® Men's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field or court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

To be eligible for Academic All-District accolades, student-athletes must be in at least their second year at their institution, appear in 50 percent of their team's contests, be a starter or significant reserve and have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better.

Haughton, a senior academically currently leads the Griffins (15-12) in rebounds, assists, steals and free throw percentage.   He has been named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball Weekly honor roll three times this season and the Philadelphia Small College Basketball Association (PSCBA) honor roll twice.

A member of the 2021-22 CACC All-Academic Team, Haughton was named a D2 Athletic Director's Association (D2ADA) Academic Achievement Award winner for 2021-22.  He was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National Student Athlete Honor Society in spring of 2022 and has earned Dean's List and CHC Athletic Academic honor roll three times since coming to Chestnut Hill in the fall of 2020 after playing one season at Towson University. He is majoring in accounting and is expected to graduate in May 2023.

Regan, also a senior academically, was named to the CACC and PSCBA weekly honor rolls once this season.  Playing both guard and forward positions during the season, Regan is currently third on the team in scoring and rebounding while leading the squad in three-point field goals made and blocked shots.
A two-time CACC all-Academic Team honoree, Regan also was named a D2ADA Academic Achievement Award winner for 2022-23. He was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National Student Athlete Honor Society in spring of 2022 and has earned Dean's List honors four times. Regan was also. named to the CHC Athletic Academic honor roll five times over the course of his collegiate career.  He currently serves as the President of the Accounting and Business Club at Chestnut Hill.  Regan is majoring in accounting and is expected to graduate in May 2023.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early March.
