Anastasia Watson extended her own school record in the shot while five of her teammates set personal best marks in their respective events as the Chestnut Hill college Women's Track and Field team competed at the York College Twilight meet on Wednesday.
Watson threw the shot 11.16 meters (36' 7½") on her final throw of the day to break her own school record of 11.01 meters (36' 1½") set last season and finish in third place. Her toss also qualified her for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship meet to be held early next month and is the seventh best throw by a conference athlete so far this season. She also placed sixth in the discus throw with a toss of 35.87 meters (117'8")
All three Chestnut Hill runners competing in the 1,500 -meter run ran personal best times at the meet.Â
Sydney Watts finished fifth in her heat and 17
th overall with a time of 5:17.63, improving on her CACC qualifying time from last week's meet.Â
Rebecca Dalton was right behind Watts in the same heat and finished 18
th overall with a time of 5:18.49 and qualified for the CACC meet in the process.Â
Aubrey Elias won her heat and finished 25
th overall with a time of 5:30.39.
Dropping down to 800 meters,
Lilly Short ran a personal best time of 2:41.20, placing 16
th overall.
In the sprints,
Solanje James ran a personal-best time of 28.77 seconds in the 200 meter dash, placing 20
th overall. She also finished 21
st in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.47 seconds.
The two newest members of the Griffins women's track and field team made their collegiate debut at the York college meet.Â
Fiona Goeckel competed in the long jump while
Erin McCarthy competed in the shot put.

The women's track and field team returns to action on Saturday, April 15, 2023, when they compete at the Bucknell Invitational in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
