Fogg Extends Shot Put Record as Griffins Place Ninth at CACC Championships

Elijah Fogg turned in another record setting performance, extending his own school record in the shot put as the Chestnut Hill college Men's track and field team concluded their season with a ninth place finish at the Central Atlantic collegiate conference Outdoor Track and field Championships in Lakewood, New Jersey over the weekend.

The Griffins scored 18 points, 17 behind seventh place finishers Goldey-Beacom college and Bloomfield college (35 pts. Apiece).  Wilmington University won the championship for the first time with 184 points.

Fogg finished sixth overall in the shot put competition and became the first Griffins' thrower to break 12 meters in the event.  He established the new standard with a toss of 12.26 meters (40' 2¾") on his third throw of the day. He also broke the 12-meter mark on his fourth throw with a toss of 12.16 meters. (39' 10¾")

The Griffins' highest individual finisher of the two-day meet was Christopher Nelson.  Nelson placed fifth in the 1,500-meter run with a personal-best time of 4:06.78.  He also finished sixth and scored in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 16:31.83.

The only other Chestnut Hill athlete to score in two events was thrower Jason Chedester.  He opened the meet on Saturday with a seventh place finish in the javelin throw with a toss of 38.44 meters (126' 1").  On Sunday, he placed eight in the shot put with a toss of 11.45 meters (37' 6 ¾").

Chestnut Hill's 4x100 meter relay team placed fifth overall in the competition.  The team of Branden Moye, Tyheem Bailey, Elijah Williams and Pierson Dyson finished in 43.38 seconds, the second fastest time in program history, behind the 43.29 seconds the team ran earlier this season.

Dyson also set a personal best mark in the long jump, leaping 6.45 meters (21'2") and just missing out of a scoring finish in ninth place.  His leap of 6.45 meters is the third longest jump in program history behind the current record of 6.56 meters and 6.46 meters both done by Emmanuel Egbosimbah in 2015.

Distance runner Cole Stanchina was the only other Griffins' competitor to score, placing eighth in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 16:38.49, earning a point.  Jason fisher was ninth in the same event, finishing in 16:44.58.

The CACC Championship meet marked the conclusion of the 2022-23 Chestnut Hill Track and Field season.
