The Intercollegiate Tennis Association has announced their 2023 ITA Division II Women's Academic Awards with 97 programs earning Women's All-Academic Team honors and a total of 623 athletes designated as ITA Scholar Athletes.
In order to be named an ITA Scholar Athlete a tennis player must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form. Programs earn ITA All-Academic Team honors by having a team grade point average of 3.2 or better for the current academic year
The Chestnut Hill Women's Tennis team was one of the 97 teams honors as an ITA All-Academic Team, with a team gpa of 3.665 for the 2022-23 academic year. This year's honor is the seventh consecutive year that the Griffins have earned ITA All-Academic Team accolades and marks the 12
th time in 13 years dating back to 2011 that the Griffins have earned the honor. The Griffins are also just one of two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) teams and seven East Region teams to be recognized as an All-Academic Team this season.
Six Chestnut Hill women's tennis earned ITA Scholar Athlete recognition, led by juniors
Nele Haag and
Lottie Allin. Haag and Allin are the eighth and ninth athletes in the program's division II history to earn ITA Scholar Athlete honors at least three times during their career.
Haag was named the CACC's Women's Tennis Top XVII Award winner at the start of the conference championship tournament. The award is given to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average who is competing in the championship tournament. The junior athlete was also one of six Philadelphia area athletes in all NCAA divisions named to the Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area team.
Allin and Haag were both inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, the national student athlete honor society this past spring. The two athletes have also earned Dean's list and CHC Athletic Academic honor Roll accolades in each of their six semesters at Chestnut Hill. Allin is majoring in health sciences while Haag sports a double major in political science and international affairs.
Joining Haag and Allin as a multiple ITA Scholar Athlete is junior
Annika Wise. Wise is a two-time ITA honoree and a five-time member of the CHC Athletic Academic Honor Roll during her three years at Chestnut Hill. She has also earned Dean's List honors three times. Wise is a Business Administration and Management major.
First time Griffin ITA honorees include sophomores
Alison Isaac and
Romi Meirovich along with freshman
Claudia Rasilla.
Isaac has earned Dean's List and CHC Athletic Academic Honor Roll accolades in each of her two semesters as a Griffin following her transfer to the school from Hope International College. Isaac is a biology major.
Meirovich is a business administration and management major at Chestnut Hill. She has earned Dean's List and CHC Athletic Academic Honor Roll accolades three times in her first four semesters as a Griffin.
Rasilla is also a business administration and management major. During her freshman year in 2022-23 she earned Dean's list and CHC athletic Academic honor Roll accolades in each of her first two semesters.
