KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) has announced the 2022-23 NABC Honors Court, recognizing men's collegiate basketball student-athletes and teams in all NCAA divisions and the NAIA, who excelled in academics during the past season. Four members of the 2022-23 Chestnut Hill College men's basketball team were among those named to the Honors Court.

The NABC Honors Court highlights the talents and gifts that these men possess on the court and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom. In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria with a cumulative g.p.a. of 3.2 or better at the conclusion of the 2022-23 academic year and be a junior or senior academically.  A basketball coach from the institution must also be an NABC member.

Griffin basketball players recognized as NABC Honors Court recipients include graduate students James Rider IV and Amir Warrick and seniors Nigel Haughton and Conor Regan.

Regan graduated in May with Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting.  He was selected to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball All-Academic Team during his career and earned college sports communicators (CSC) Academic All-district honors for 2022-23.  Regan earned Dean's List and CHC Athletic Academic Honor roll accolades in every semester while enrolled at Chestnut Hill and is a two-time D2 Athletic Director's Association (d2ADA) Academic Achievement Award winner. On the court, he led the team with 54 three-point field goals and 26 blocked shots while averaging 10.2 points per game while playing and starting in all 30 games for the Griffins.

Haughton also graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in May.    A two-time CACC all-Academic Team honoree, Haughton also earned CSC Academic All-District honors for 2022-23 and earned Dean's List and CHC Athletic Academic honor roll accolades six times over the course of his athletic career.  The versatile point guard led the team in assists (91), steals (33), rebounds (188) and free throw percentage (88.3%) while also averaging 9.8 points per game while starting in all 30 contests.

Rider received his Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership in May.  He was a D2 Athletic director's Association Academic Achievement Award Winner for 2021-22 and will be again in 22-23 when the honors get announced. He appeared in 26 games, starting 21 and averaged 8.0 points per game last season.  Rider was second on the team with 36 three-point field goals.

Warrick is in his first year of graduate school pursuing a masters degree in cybersecurity.  Last season, Warrick led the team with 361 points scored, including the 1,000th of his career in December 2022 as he helped lead the Griffins to their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament semi-final berth in nearly a decade.  His 5.9 rebounds/game average and 22 blocks were second on the team.

The four Griffins honored this year are the first Chestnut Hill men's basketball players in program history to receive NABC Honors Court accolades.
