Women's Tennis Team Picked Third in CACC Pre-Season Coaches' Poll

The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and Commissioner Dan Mara has released the results of the 2023 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Tennis Preseason Coaches' Poll. Chestnut Hill College placed third among the six teams in the forecasted standings with 22 total points and one first place vote.  Wilmington University garnered the other five first place votes to finish at the top of the poll with 30 points.  The voting in the poll was conducted by the leagues 12 head coaches in the sport.

Thomas Jefferson University narrowly finished ahead of Chestnut Hill in second place with 23 points.

Rounding out the poll were Goldey-Beacom College (18 points); Post University (17) and Dominican University (10).
 
The Griffins return seven of their eight players from last year's 9-12 squad that reached the CACC Championship Tournament for the fourth consecutive season and tenth time in the last 13 seasons.  Leading the way for the Griffins is Alison Isaac who led the team with 13 singles and 16 doubles victories while playing primarily at the #1 and #2 singles position and teaming up with Nele Haag at #2 doubles for all of her doubles victories.  Haag also won 11 singles matches, the bulk of which came at the #3 singles position. 
 
Chestnut Hill opens their season on the road with matches at Shippensburg University (Sept. 8) and Kutztown University on September 9.  The Griffins' home opener will be on September 12 against St. Thomas Aquinas college.  First serve at the CHC Tennis Courts will be at 2 p.m.  The regular season will be a buildup to the 2023 CACC Championships, which will take place on October 20-21 at the Delcastle Tennis Center in Wilmington, Delaware.
