Two school records were broken as the Chestnut Hill College Men's Track and Field team kicked off their 2024 season Saturday at the Moravian Invitational, held at Lehigh University's Rauch Gym in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
In the first race of the day,
Cole Stanchina broke his own indoor school record in the 5,000 meter run, finishing the race in 15:31.96 to place sixth overall. This breaks his own record of 15:38.04 set in February at Ursinus College. He took 6.08 seconds off his previous best with today's run.
Elijah Williams shaved .02 seconds off his 2023 60 meter hurdles record of 10.04 seconds, finishing Saturday's race in 10.02 seconds to place 18
th overall.
Freshman
Emmanuel Preston was one of four Chestnut Hill runners making his collegiate debut on Saturday. Preston competed in both the 60 meter and 200 meter races. He finished tenth overall in both races, recording a time of 7.23 seconds in the 60 meter event and 23.72 seconds in the 200. His 200 time is the third fastest indoor 200-meter dash time in program history while his 60-meter time is tied for the sixth fastest in program history.
Bryce Hunter and
Donald Bonham also made their indoor collegiate debuts on Saturday, with both runners competing in the 60-meter and 200-meter events.  Hunter, a true freshman, finished 18
th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.35 seconds and 23
rd in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.49 seconds.  Bonham, a sophomore competing indoors for the first time, turned in times of 7.41 seconds for the 60 meter dash and 25.91 seconds in the 200-meter dash.
Freshman
Ryan O'Hara rounded out the Griffin runners making their indoor debut, competing in the mile run and finishing with a time of 5:13.22.
Rounding out the Griffin competitors were senior
Jason Chedester who competed in the shot put (10.80 meters – 35' 5¼") and senior
Tyheem Bailey, who competed in the 60-meter dash (7.41 seconds) and 200 meter dash (24.58 seconds).

The men's track and field team returns to action for the Rutgers Invitational held on February 3-4 at the New York city Armory in the Bronx, New York.
