Nine members of the Chestnut Hill College Men's Track and Field team competed at Friday's Stevenson University Invitational, recording one win, one personal best and six top 10 finishes.
Cole Stanchina won the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:44.11 and qualified for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference championship meet in May. This is the second event that Stanchina has qualified for the championship meet, recording the top time in the conference this season at 10,000 meters in his first outdoor race of the 2024 season.
Demitri Pierre Perez had his best day ever as a collegian in the javelin, throwing 29.47 meters (96'8") to place ninth.
Jason Chedester was fourth in the javelin with a toss of 37.41 meters (122'9")
Chedester also placed 11
th in the shot put competition with a throw of 10.11 meters (33'2"). Rounding out the field event competitors was
Elijah Williams who made his collegiate debut at high jump. Williams placed sixth clearing the bar at 1.65 meters (5'5").
The Griffins' 4 x100 meter relay team of
Bryce Hunter, Emanuel Preston, Donald Bonham and
Tyheem Bailey finished second with a time of 45.03 seconds. Bailey and bonham also competed in the 100 meter dash. Bailey placed 13
th with a time of 11.59 seconds while bonham finished in 12.33 seconds.
Rounding out the Griffins' competitors was
Ryan O'Hara, who made his collegiate debut at the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing fourth with a time of 11.55.00.
The men's track and field team returns to action on Friday, April 19, 2024, when they compete at the Widener University Invitational in Chester, Pennsylvania.
