Eleven Griffins Named to the 2024 Collegiate Sprint Football League All-Academic Team

Eleven members of the 2024 Chestnut Hill College Football team were among  the 122 student-athletes named to the 2023 Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) All-Academic Team as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara on Thursday. 

To be eligible, a student-athlete must, a) have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher; b) competed during the most recent season; c) and must be at least a sophomore both academically and athletically. There is no limit to how many nominees a school may have, provided they meet the listed criteria.

The 11 Griffin athletes recognized by the CSFL mark the third consecutive season that the griffins had at least ten players named to the all-academic team.   The team placed 13 players the 2022 and 2023 all-academic teams.  The CSFL all-academic Team was established in 2018,

Three of the 11 chestnut Hill players are appearing on the CSFL All-academic Team for the third time.  They include seniors  Jake Bosken, Myron Brooks, and Matt Davis.  Bosken, Brooks and Davis are the Griffins first three-time honorees in program history.

An additional six players are appearing on the CSFL All Academic team for the second consecutive year.  They include seniors Matt Gauld, Malachi Jones and Nick Suscovich along with juniors Cam Goldsmith, Jonathan Havrilak and Justin Oppong.

Earning CSFL all-academic Team honors for the first time were senior Anthony Droege and sophomore Hunter Oaks.

Five different majors were represented among the 11 Griffin honorees with six athletes majoring in Business Administration and Management (Bosken, Brooks, Gauld, goldsmith, Oaks, and Suscovich).  Two athletes are Criminal Justice majors (Davis and Jones) while three additional majors were represented by one athlete apiece:  Exercise Science (Droege); Psychology (Havrilak); and Political Science (Oppong).

A total of 27 members of the Chestnut Hill college sprint football team have earned CSFL All0-Academic Team honors a total of 43 times since its inception in 2018 with the three players on this year's team earning the honor three time, and ten players including the on this year's team earning CSFL all-Academic team honors twice.  A total of 14 players were named to the team once during their career as a Griffin.

The Chestnut Hill College football team finished second in the CSFL South Division in 2024 and had an overall record of 5-2, equaling their best record in program history.
