Senior Sydney Watts shattered her own school record in the indoor 5,000 meter run on Saturday as members of the Chestnut Hill College Women's Track and Field team competed at that widener Indoor classic at the Ott Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Watts completed the 5,000 meter race in 19:33.97, taking 22 seconds off her previous mark of 19:55.99 set two weeks ago at the Scarlet Knight Open in Bronx, New York. Watts finished 12th overall in the race and was the second Division II runner to cross the finish line. The senior runner now holds the top three times for the indoor 5,000 meter run in school history.
Juniors Rebecca Dalton and Gabby Hassler were the Griffins other competitors who qualified to compete at the meet.  Dalton competed in the mile run, finishing 12th in her section with a time of 5:51.23 while Hassler was 11th in her heat of the 800-meter run finishing in 2:43.12
The women's track and field team returns to action on Friday, February 28, 2025, when they compete at the FastTrack Last Chance Invitational at Ocean Breeze in Staten Island, New York.
