Two members of the Chestnut Hill College Men's Basketball team have been named to the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Men's Basketball team in an announcement made by the organization and the CSC Academic All-America® committee earlier this week.

Named to the team were juniors Alejandro Redondo Cybak and Landon Shivers.  The two players are earning Academic All-District ® honors for the first time.

The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Men's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field or court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men's basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

To be eligible for Academic All-District® accolades, student-athletes must be at least at sophomore athletically and academically, appear in 90 percent of their team's contests or start in 66% and have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better. Graduate students must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA in both their undergraduate and graduate programs.

Cybak, a junior post player and a computer science major, finished second on the team in both scoring and rebounding in 2024-25, averaging 12.1 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. He recorded eight double-doubles on the season and helped lead the Griffins into the conference playoffs for the second consecutive year.  This season he earned CACC player of the week and Weekly hon or roll accolades multiple times.   Cybak has earned Dean's List honors ie every semester at Chestnut Hill and was named to the CACC Academic Honor Roll in each of the last three semesters.

Shivers, a newcomer to the Griffins in 2024-25, appeared in 26 games for the Griffins, averaging ten minutes a game as one of the first players off the bench.   Shivers was second on the team with 20 blocks on the season.  He earned Dean's List honors and was named to the CACC Academic Honor Roll in the Fall of 2024.

Academic All-District® honorees are reviewed by a group of Academic All-America® committee members for consideration for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® national ballot, where first, second and third team Academic All-America® honorees are chosen by the CSC Division II membership and the Academic All-America® core committee. Honorees will be announced in mid-April.
