The Intercollegiate Tennis Association has announced their 2024-25 ITA Division II Women's Academic Awards with 104 programs earning Women's All-Academic Team honors and a total of 705 athletes designated as ITA Scholar Athletes.
In order to be named an ITA Scholar Athlete a tennis player must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form. Programs earn ITA All-Academic Team honors by having a team grade point average of 3.2 or better for the current academic year
The Chestnut Hill Women's Tennis team was one of the 104 teams honored as an ITA All-Academic Team, with a team gpa of 3.824 for the 2024-25 academic year. This year's honor is the ninth consecutive year that the Griffins have earned ITA All-Academic Team accolades and marks the 14th time in 15 years dating back to 2011 that the Griffins have earned the honor. The Griffins are also just one of three Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) teams and 11 East Region teams to be recognized as an All-Academic Team this season.
A total of six athletes on the Chestnut Hill women's tennis team earned ITA Scholar Athlete recognition, led by senior Romi Meirovich and junior Claudia Rasilla. Joining Meirovich and Rasilla are two-time honorees Elena Arenas Guisasola and Lilian Bandel. /rounding out the six honorees were senior Anisha Reddy Thada and freshman Annabel Snow.
Meirovich and Rasilla became the 11th and 12 players in program history to earn ITA Scholar Athlete honors at least three times. Meirovich is also a two-time college sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honoree. (2024, 2025). Rasilla and Bandel earned CSC Academic all-district honors for the first time this year.
All six athletes with the exception of Snow have also earned CACC Academic honor Roll accolades in each of the last four semesters. Snow earned CACC Academic Honor Roll status in the fall of 2024 before transferring out of the college.
Meirovich was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma the national college athlete honor society in the spring of 2024. She is a three-time CACC all Academic Team honoree and has earned Dean's List and CHC Athletic Academic honor roll accolades in every semester while attending Chestnut Hill. Meirovich graduated in may with a bachelor's degree in business administration and management.
A marketing major, Rasilla was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma this past May and has earned CACC All-Academic Team honors twice. Like Meirovich she has earned Dean's List and CHC Athletic Academic honor roll accolades in every semester while attending Chestnut Hill.
Bandel and Arenas Guisasola both earned CACC All-Academic Team honors this past spring. The two have also earned Dean's List and CHC Athletic Academic honor roll accolades in each of their first four semesters. Bandel is a business administration and management major while Arenas is a biology major.
Reddy Thada has earned Dean's List honors three times and CHC Athletic Academic honor roll accolades four times since transferring into the college from Edinboro University in the Fall of 2022. She graduated in May with a degree in computer systems management.
Snow spent just one semester at the Hill, earning dean's List and CHC Athletic Academic honor roll accolades in additon to her CACC Academic honor roll selection in the fall of 2024.
The Griffins' women's tennis team is now the seventh Chestnut Hill team to earn all-Academic Team status from their respective sports association for the 2024-25 academic year, joining the Men's Tennis Team (ITA); Men's Lacrosse Team (USILA); Men's Basketball Team (NABC); Women's Bowling team (NTCA) and the Men's and Women's Track and Field teams (USTFCCCA).
