Women's Tennis Team Picked Fourth in 2025 CACC Pre-Season Poll

The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and Commissioner Dan Mara has released the results of the 2025 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Tennis Preseason Coaches' Poll on Thursday.  

In voting done by the league's six head coaches, Chestnut Hill College ranked fourth in the forecasted standings with 15 total points.  Four-time defending champion Wilmington University earned four place votes and sits atop the poll with 24 points.

Jefferson University placed second in the poll with two first place votes  and 19 points followed by Goldey-Beacom College with 17 points and then Chestnut hill with 15.  The fifth spot in the poll belongs to Post University with ten points with  Dominican University rounding out the poll with five points

The Griffins reached the conference tournament championship match last season after finishing with a 7-3 conference record and concluded their season with a 13-6 overfall mark.

Lost to  graduation were two all-conference performers from the 2024 squad in CACC Player of the Year Alison Isaac and second team all-conference Romi Meirovich while  three Griffins from last year's team return for 2025.  Isaac returns to Chestnut Hill this year as an assistant coach.

Leading the way for coach Bruce Konyak's 2025 team is 2024 second team all-conference athlete Lilian Bandel.  Bandel was a combined 16-2 in conference matches last season while playing primarily at #2 singles and #1 doubles.  The CACC 2023 Rookie of the Year Elena Arenas Guisasola also returns to this year's squad after producing a solid 11-4 mark in doubles play.   Senior Claudia Rasilla Romero rounds out the returnees.  Rasilla went 22-14 combined during 2024.

Joining the team this year will be three international newcomers, Minou Erlewein from Germany; Veronika Lundgren from Sweden  and Milica Zagorac from Serbia.

 The regular season begins on September 6 when the Griffins travel to Bloomsburg University. Conference play is slated to start the following Saturday, Sept. 13. At the end of the fall season, the top four teams in the standings will qualify for the CACC Championship tournament, to be hosted by Wilmington from Oct. 18-19 at Delcastle Tennis Center in Wilmington, Del. The CACC champion will automatically qualify for the 2026 NCAA East Region Championship in May.
