Crim Collects CACC Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week Title, Sebold Secures Honor Roll Appearance

New Haven, Conn. - (12/16/2019) – Chestnut Hill College sophomore guard Lauren Crim (Warrington, Pa.) totaled four steals while averaging 9.0 points per game (PPG) and 3.0 rebounds per game (RPG) in non-conference losses to the University of New Haven (L, 64-66 on December 11) and Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) (L, 59-68 on December 14) to earn the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week award. Her teammate, junior guard Cassie Sebold (Willow Grove, Pa.) joined her on the league report, garnering Honor Roll status with 20.5 PPG, five rebounds, seven assists, and a pair of steals in the two losses.

Sophomore guard Abbey Spratt (Doylestown, Pa.) drained a pair of free throws to bring Chestnut Hill College (3-7) level with the University of New Haven (8-1) as only seconds remained, 64-64 (0:03). Unfortunately, the Chargers answered on their final possession to secure Wednesday’s (December 11) 66-64 non-conference win. Sebold (14 points) and Crim (11) both finished in double figures; the former added three rebounds, four assists, and a pair of steals to her 14 points, while the latter paired her 11 points with two rebounds, three assists, and a steal.

Despite winning the battle in a number of shooting categories, including a 43.5% (20-of-46) to 36.7% (22-of-60) advantage in field goal percentage, Chestnut Hill College dropped a tight decision, 68-59, at Southern Connecticut State University (6-4) on Saturday, December 14.

Sebold produced a career-high 27 points for the Griffins, but the Owls pulled away thanks to consistent scoring down the stretch. She was 9-of-14 (.643) from the field - with a pair of three pointers (2-of-7, .286) – and a season-best 7-of-9 (.778) from the free throw line, while additionally recording two rebounds and three assists. Crim recorded a team-high three steals in addition to seven points, four rebounds, and three assists.
