Record Night Earns McBride CACC’s Player of the Week Award, Trabosh Shares League’s Defensive Distinction

New Haven, Conn. – (10/28/2014) – Saturday’s 3-1 (25-22, 14-25, 25-21, 25-23) victory over Bloomfield College was the third consecutive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) triumph for the Griffins, who were recognized for their impressive week of play with sophomore outside hitter Madison McBride (Long Beach, Calif.) earning the league’s Player of the Week award and sophomore libero Regina Trabosh (Norristown, Pa.) garnering a share of the league’s Defensive Player of the Week award.

Chestnut Hill College got back on track with Wednesday, October 22, evening’s CACC 3-0 (25-12, 25-22, 25-22) victory over cross-city rival, the University of the Sciences (USciences). Led by McBride and fellow outside hitter, junior Rachel Biro (Nazareth, Pa.), the Griffins impressed with a .324 (46K-11E-108TA) team hitting percentage that came efficiently off the direction of junior setter Alyssa Tamsing (Ventura, Calif.) and the defensive prowess Trabosh. McBride fueled an 18.5-point night with a dozen kills on a brilliant .379 (12K-1E-29TA) hitting percentage while Trabosh provided 21 digs.

While establishing a new career and program high in points on Friday, October 24, McBride led the Griffins to a crucial 3-1 (23-25, 25-18, 25-17, 25-15) league victory at Philadelphia University. The Griffins completed their first CACC sweep of their cross-city rival by hitting .243 (51K-14E-152TA) with 13 aces and four players recording double-digit digs. McBride scored seven of the Griffins 13 aces while recording a block, an assist, and her sixth double-double of the season with a season-high 21 kills and 15 digs. She totaled 29.0 points in all while Trabosh captained the Griffins defensive effort with 30 digs.

On Saturday, October 25, the Griffins ended a crazy day of volleyball with thunderous applause as Trabosh brought Sorgenti Arena to its feet with a game-winning ace, 3-1 (25-22, 14-25, 25-21, 25-23). Biro led the Griffins with 18.5 points, but it was a second straight double-double performance from McBride, 13 kills and 17 digs, and 30 digs from Trabosh that made the triumph possible.

McBride currently ranks eighth in the CACC for kills-per-set (3.14/set) and 10th in total kills (267), while Trabosh leads the league in digs-per-set (6.00/set) and total digs (510).

The women’s volleyball team continues their CACC schedule on Tuesday, October 28, with a 7:00 p.m. match against Wilmington University.
