Hoffman Honored On CACC Weekly Honor Roll For Play at Barton Intercollegiate
New Haven, Conn. - (3/14/2017) – Senior captain Anthony Hoffman (Philadelphia, Pa.) was the Scarlet and Gold’s top performer at Wilson Country Club with a final score of 241 (76-85-80, +25) placing him 36 in a field of 65 competitors at the Barton College Intercollegiate, sponsored by Greenlight. For his efforts, he was recently recognized on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Golf Weekly Honor Roll.
Hoffman was Chestnut Hill College’s top performer twice in the three-round tournament with his final round of 80 (+8) leaving him 36th place overall. He also led the Griffins in the first round of the tournament as his opening round of 76 (+4) tied him for eighth overall. As a result, the Griffins stood ninth of 12 teams with 328 (+40) team strokes.
After a marathon Monday, play at the Barton College Intercollegiate continued on Tuesday, March 14, with the conclusion of round two and round three. The Scarlet and Gold improved their day-one standing, finishing in a tie for eighth (8th of 12, 328-335, 663, +87). Hoffman fell to a tie for 35th place with a day-two score of 85 (+13). But at the conclusion of play, Chestnut Hill College was the sole inhibitor of eighth place as a round of 330 (+42) brought their three-day total to 993 (328-335-330, +129) strokes.
North Carolina State University sophomore Nolan Mills Jr. (Charlotte, N.C.) won the individual trophy with a 211 (70-71-70, -5) while the hosting Bulldogs kept the team crown with their three-day combined score of 903 (299-302-302, +39).
The Chestnut Hill College golf team resumes play next Tuesday, March 21, at the ACE Club in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania, for a round with fellow Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) member, Philadelphia University.
