Wildgoose Warrants CACC Defensive Player of the Week Award, Tumasz Tenders Honor Roll Recognition

New Haven, Conn. - (12/4/2017) – Junior forward Jaeda Wildgoose (Somerset, N.J.) averaged 11.0 points-per-game (PPG), 9.0 rebounds-per-game (RPG), while totaling five blocks and five steals in games versus Bloomsburg University and Goldey-Beacom College to earn the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Defensive Player of the Week award. Her teammate, senior guard Vicky Tumasz (North Wales, Pa.) joined her on the CACC Women’s Basketball Weekly Report, garnering an Honor Roll mention with 17.0 PPG, 5.0 RPG, eight assists, a block, and three steals.

Wildgoose recorded her fourth double-double of the season, 16 points and 13 rebounds, in the Griffins’ 58-53 loss to the Huskies on Tuesday, November 28, before totaling six points, five rebounds, a block, and four steals in a 77-53 league win over the Lightning on Saturday, December 2. Meanwhile, Tumasz bounced back from a five-point effort versus Bloomsburg University with a career-high 29 points in Chestnut Hill College’s CACC victory over Goldey-Beacom College.

A collaborative 33-point effort from Wildgoose and sophomore forward Shannon Glenn (Philadelphia, Pa.) was not enough to defeat Bloomsburg University (3-4) as the Huskies stole the home opener from the Griffins in the final second on a 58-53 final. Glenn led the Griffins in scoring with 17 points, but Wildgoose was the Griffins’ top performer with her fourth double-double (16 points, 13 rebounds) of the season. She finished the affair with 16 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, four blocks, and a steal in her double-double performance. Meanwhile, Tumasz added five rebounds, six assists, and three steals to her five points.

A season and career-high 29 points from Tumasz solidified Saturday’s 77-53 CACC win over Goldey-Beacom College (2-7, 0-1). Chestnut Hill College (4-3, 1-0) had a few close calls along the way, but with Tumasz’s spectacular offensive performance, double figure scoring performances from sophomore guard Cailey Gibson (Marlton, N.J.) and Cassie Sebold (Willow Grove, Pa.), and a suffocating Scarlet and Gold defensive effort that forced the Lightning into 34 turnovers, the Griffins were able to clear Goldey-Beacom College without much trouble. Tumasz scored her 29 points on an 11-of-19 (.578) shooting effort that included a 6-of-10 (.600) performance from three point range. She also recorded five rebounds and two assists for the Griffins. Wildgoose finished the affair with six points, five rebounds, a block, and four steals.

Chestnut Hill College resumes their CACC schedule on Tuesday, December 5, in a 6:00 p.m. Military Appreciation game at Jefferson University.
