Sebold Secures Third Consecutive CACC Rookie of the Week, Tumasz Appears On Honor Roll

New Haven, Conn. - (1/8/2018) – Freshman guard Cassie Sebold (Willow Grove, Pa.) came off the bench to lead Chestnut Hill College in a 98-85 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over Wilmington University. The effort was Sebold’s second straight 19-point performance, matching her career-high, and earning her a third consecutive CACC Rookie of the Week Award. Senior guard Vicky Tumasz (North Wales, Pa.) joined her on the CACC Women’s Basketball Weekly Report, garnering Honor Roll recognition with 16 points and a career-high nine assists.

Chestnut Hill College (9-6, 5-1) stumbled out of the gate, allowing Wilmington University (4-9, 1-3) to grab an early lead, 4-0 (8:12). A Sebold three pointer pulled the Griffins within one point, 16-15, at 2:11 and energized the Scarlet and Gold, who pushed their lead to 11 points, 28-17, by the first-quarter break. Chestnut Hill College capitalized on their second quarter free throw chances (8-of-10, .800) to gradually grow their lead to 16 points, 50-34, by halftime. In the second half, the Griffin lead held at nine points, 50-41 (7:58), before a Scarlet and Gold furry closed the third quarter on a 17-point, 71-54, margin. Despite outscoring the Griffins in the final period, double digit days from Sebold, Tumasz, junior forward Jaeda Wildgoose (Somerset, N.J.), junior guard Mary Trossi (Somerset, N.J.), sophomore forward Shannon Glenn (Philadelphia, Pa.), and junior forward Mary Bode (Zaria Kaduna State, Nigeria) countered any progression the Wildcats strived for in a 98-85 conclusion.

Sebold added seven rebounds, seven assists, and two steals to her 19 points. Tumasz recorded two rebounds, nine assists, and a steal.

Chestnut Hill College will resume their conference play January 10, 2018, against Post University. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
