Sebold Extends CACC Rookie of the Week Streak, Wildgoose and Tumasz Grace Honor Roll

New Haven, Conn. - (1/22/2018) – Averaging 14.0 points-per-game (PPG) and 5.0 rebounds-per-game (RPG) with six assists and two steals in league contests versus Dominican College (1/16) and at Bloomfield College (1/20), Chestnut Hill College freshman guard Cassie Sebold (Willow Grove, Pa.) was recognized for the fifth straight time as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week. Her teammates, senior guard Vicky Tumasz (North Wales, Pa.) and junior forward Jaeda Wildgoose (Somerset, N.J.) appeared on the CACC Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll; the former led the Griffins in points (20.0 PPG) this week, while the latter averaged a double-double (18.5 PPG, 11.0 RPG) in the process of recording her 1,000 collegiate point.

Dominican College (5-11, 4-4) traveled to Chestnut Hill College on Tuesday night in hopes of interrupting Chestnut Hill College’s current six-game winning streak. But they were met by a monstrous 24-point, 13-rebound Wildgoose double-double that denied them any hope of a comeback in an 80-71 Scarlet and Gold victory. The Chestnut Hill College backcourt complimented Wildgoose well as both Sebold and Tumasz played major roles in generating the Griffins’ second-half surge. Wildgoose, was efficient in scoring her 24 points as she hit 9-of-11 (.818) from the field and 6-of-8 (.750) from the free throw line. She also added an assist and a block to her ninth double-double of the season. Sebold supplied 22 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals, while Tumasz totaled 18 points, four rebounds, two assists, and a steal.

Unfortunately, the Griffins’ winning streak came to an end with Saturday’s 85-74 CACC loss at Bloomfield College. Tumasz led four Griffins in double figures and a 27-of-30 (.900) team free throw effort kept the Scarlet and Gold in the game despite a 54-38 rebounding deficit. Wildgoose provided the silver lining for Chestnut Hill College (12-7, 8-2) with the 1,000th point of her collegiate career with the first if two free throw at 2:03 (35-29) of the second quarter. Tumasz was 4-of-9 (.444) from three point range in a 7-of-15 (.467) shooting performance that came with four made free throws (4-of-5, .800) and five rebounds. After becoming the eighth 1,000-point scorer in Chestnut Hill College women’s basketball history, Wildgoose finished the game with 13 points, nine rebounds, and an assist. Sebold offered six points, five rebounds, four assists, and a steal.

The Chestnut Hill College women’s basketball team returns home to Sorgenti Arena on Wednesday, January 24, to host Jefferson University in a 6:00 p.m. CACC contest.
