Wildgoose Scores Second Straight CACC Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll Recognition
New Haven, Conn. – (11/26/2018) – Senior forward Jaeda Wildgoose (Franklin Township, N.J.) appeared on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Basketball Honor Roll for a second straight report as the Griffin captain averaged 13.5 points-per-game (PPG) and 10.5 rebounds-per-game (RPG) in a 1-1 week that included a 71-66 home win over East Stroudsburg University (ESU) on November 20. She provided her second double-double of the season against the Warriors as she paired 16 points and 15 rebounds with four assists and a block.
Chestnut Hill College (1-4) put on a thrilling 71-66 performance in Monday night's home debut against ESU (2-2). Freshman guard Abbey Spratt (Doylestown, Pa.) recorded all 11 of her points to keep the Griffins afloat in the first half, senior guard Mary Trossi (Somerset, N.J) scored the necessary buckets to keep the Scarlet and Gold ahead in the fourth quarter, and all the while Wildgoose anchored the effort with her with a double-double. After a quiet first half (6 points, 5 rebounds), Wildgoose scored Chestnut Hill College's first six-points of the third quarter as well as the go-head basket, 58-57, with 5:22 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Warriors would tie the contest once more, 63-63, just after the three minute mark (2:54), but they put the efficient Griffins (20-of-28, .714 FT) at the free throw line too often down the stretch of the five-point final.
Unfortunately, the Griffins’ road woes continued on Sunday, November 25, as they had trouble finding their shot (20-of-61, .328) in an 85-51 loss at Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU). SNHU (6-0) outscored Chestnut Hill College 20-9 in the first quarter; the advantage helped the Penmen take a 38-23 halftime lead as they shot 46.9% (15-of-32) from the floor and dominated the glass (22-9 rebounds) in the first two quarters. In the third quarter, SNHU pushed the deficit past 30 points, 56-25, with 4:30 remaining and later to as many as 34 points, 65-31, with 1:32 left in the frame. Fortunately, a Wildgoose layup and a three pointer from freshman guard Lauren Crim (Warrington, Pa.) brought the difference to 29 points, 65-36 (0:09), at the end of the period. However, at the start of the fourth quarter a 10-0 run pushed the Penmen’s lead to 39 points, 75-36 (8:13), which proved to be an insurmountable figure for the Griffins in a 34-point final.
