New Castle, DE – (3/17/2010) – Chestnut Hill College traveled to Wilmington University this afternoon for two games of non-conference competition against the Wildcats.

The Griffins managed to record only two hits in the doubleheader as the Wildcats collected two wins, 6-0 and 20-0, in five innings.
Chestnut Hill College (0-8) had their best opportunity to get on the scoreboard early in the afternoon, when freshman first baseman Giana Cavallo (Turnersville, N.J.) ripped a one-out double to left field. Unfortunately, the Wildcats left the two Griffins in scoring position before winning the contest 6-0. Sophomore right fielder Kayla Shoap (Newville, Pa.) recorded the other Griffin hit in the contest with a single in the fifth inning. Freshman pitcher Cassie Benson (Rosamond, Cal.) took the loss for the Griffins. She allowed four earned runs on nine hits, while striking out one over six innings.

Junior pitcher Erin Tingle (Laurel, Del.) threw five innings of no-hit baseball in the second game. Meanwhile, Wilmington University (3-7-1) put 20 runs on the board to take the game decisively.

The softball team will host Mercy College in a 2:30 doubleheader on Friday, March 19.
