Griffins Score Third CACC Win with Second Victory over Eagles

Waterbury, CT – (4/10/2010) – Chestnut Hill College overpowered Post University for a 17-7 for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win this afternoon. Senior midfielder Carley Glass (Swedesboro, NJ) totaled 11 points and senior attack Maryanne Glass (Swedesboro, NJ) recorded six points as the sisters combined for 12 goals in the Griffins' third conference triumph and their second over the Eagles this season.  

 

Chestnut Hill College (4-6, 3-4) took a 6-0 lead in the first half of the opening period (14:51) with three goals coming from Carley Glass, two goals from Maryanne Glass, and one from junior midfielder Jillian Sanger (Bowmansville, PA). Senior defender Tiffany Neuendorf (Norwich, CT) was the only Eagle to score in the frame. She did so twice as the Griffins led Post University (0-9, 0-5) 9-2 at the break. The Eagles kept the second half competitive until the Griffins scored the final four goals of the period, including two from freshman attack Maya Fairweather (Bowie, MD).

 

Neuendorf led the Eagles offensively with five goals and seven ground balls. Freshman Kathryn Price (Old Saybrook, CT) added the other two Eagle tallies. Sophomore goalkeeper Michelle Chadwick (Miami, FL) made 11 saves in the loss.

 

Carley Glass totaled seven goals and four assists in addition to grabbing six ground balls. Maryanne Glass contributed five goals and an assist while freshman attack Nicole Covella (Vineland, NJ) hustled to four ground balls. Junior goalkeeper junior Cherise Bell (Elkins Park, PA) collected the win while making three saves.

 

The women's lacrosse team returns home to host Holy Family University in CACC competition on Tuesday, April 13. Opening draw is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
