Maverick Second Half Sinks Griffins

Dobbs Ferry, NY – (4/17/2010) – Four Griffins scored in today's East Coast Conference (ECC) contest at Mercy College, but they only recorded a goal each as Chestnut Hill College fell 10-4 to the Mavericks. Freshman midfielder Junji Wiener (Houston, Texas) and freshman defenseman Joe Rucinsky

 

Mercy College (3-7, 2-4) scored first, but Chestnut Hill College (4-8, 0-7) answered on a man-up opportunity 33 seconds later. Wiener located freshman midfielder Nate Tharp (Laurel, MD) for the Griffins' first score. However, the Mavericks scored three more goals in the first quarter to hold a 4-1 advantage at the first intermission. Freshmen midfielders D.J. Klusaritz (Allentown, PA) and Mark Winkelspecht

 

Freshman attack Mike Marzocca (North Babylon, NY) led the Mavericks with five goals and an assist. He also recorded four ground balls and a caused turnover. Freshman goalie T.J. DiCarlo (Farmingdale, NY) made seven saves in the win.

 

Wiener was the Griffins' offensive leader with a goal and an assist. He also collected a ground ball and caused a turnover. Freshman midfielder Alex Sabia (Conshohocken, PA) won 10-of-15 face-offs. Defensively, Rucinsky caused five turnovers and recovered three ground balls. Freshman goalie Andrew D'Addona (Norristown, PA) made nine saves and collected four ground balls in the loss (1-3). Freshman goalie Dakota Maurer (Lititz, PA) recorded three saves and two ground balls in the final 4:24.

 

The men's lacrosse returns home to host Seton Hill University in a 4:00 p.m. ECC contest on Thursday, April 22.
