Bronxville, NY – (4/18/2010) – Concordia College topped Chestnut Hill College 9-1 in both contests of this afternoon's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader. The Clippers took the opener in five innings and they posted a six-run at-bat in the first inning of game two before winning that second game in six innings. Freshman first baseman Giana Cavallo (Turnersville, NJ) totaled three hits and a run-batted-in (RBI) to lead the Griffins in the twin bill.

Concordia College (15-12, 12-6) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning of the opener. The Griffins cut the deficit to 2-1 in the top of the third inning with a RBI from freshman pitcher Cassie Benson (Rosamond, CA). Despite her attempt to help her own cause, the Clippers prevailed with three runs in the bottom of the third inning and four more runs in the fourth inning for the 9-1 win. Junior pitcher Alexa Rosella (Howard Beach, NY) ended the contest after five innings. She struck out seven while allowing one run on six hits and four walks. Benson took the loss (1-12).

The Clippers seized control early in the second game with six runs in their first at-bat, 6-0. The Griffins got one run back in the top of the third inning on an RBI single from Cavallo, 6-1, but Concordia College added two more runs in the fourth inning and another run in the sixth inning to sweep the conference doubleheader. Rosella and junior shortstop Jaime Lorenzo (Eastchester, NY) each knocked in two Clipper runs while freshman pitcher Theresa Magnani (Bethpage, NY) collected the win. She allowed one run on four hits and three walks while striking out ten. Freshman pitcher Veronica Wilenta (Bick, NJ) took the loss (1-12) for the Chestnut Hill College (2-26, 2-14) despite striking out five.
