Women’s Lacrosse Hosts Molloy College in Senior Day Affair

Lafayette Hill, PA – (4/17/2010) – Chestnut Hill College welcomed Molloy College to Victory Field #1 for an afternoon women's lacrosse contest. The Lions claimed a 24-12 win over the Griffins, who celebrated the careers of their senior class in a brief ceremony preceding today's opening draw. Senior attack Maryanne Glass (Swedesboro, NJ) finished with four goals as the leading scorer for the Griffins.

 

Junior midfielder Jillian Sanger (Bowmansville, PA) tied the contest at 2-2 just 4:48 after the opening draw and 16 minutes later (21:04) the Griffins only trailed by two, 7-5. Unfortunately, Molloy College (10-2) ended the first half on a 7-1 run to own a 14-6 lead at the break. The Lions outscored the Griffins 10-6 in the second half to claim the 24-12 win. Seniors, Rebecca LaFlare (Lindenhurst, NY) and Kristie Sasnowski (Massapequa Park, NY) led the Lions. LaFlare totaled six goals while Sasnowski provided five goals and two assists in addition to securing 16 draw controls. Junior goalkeeper Jackie Bove (North Massapequa, NY) made six saves in the win for the Lions.

 

Glass scored the Griffins' first and last tally of the affair while recording her 200th career point. She recorded three ground balls, two draws, and two caused turnovers in addition to her four scores. Sanger totaled a career-high four points with three goals and an assist while senior midfielder Carley Glass (Swedesboro, NJ) supplied three goals, three ground balls, two draw controls, and a caused turnover. Freshman attack Nicole Covella (Vineland, NJ) scored the other two tallies for Chestnut Hill College (4-9). Sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Hoch (Philadelphia, PA) made her first collegiate start, but took the loss (0-1) while making eight saves. Junior goalkeeper Cherise Bell (Elkins Park, PA) made one save in 26 minutes of playing time (26:18).  

 

The women's lacrosse team travels to Holy Family University tomorrow, Sunday, April 18, as they resume their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule with a 4:00 p.m. contest.
