4/7/2011 8:28:18 PM

Orangeburg, NY – (4/7/2011) – The even play between Chestnut Hill College and Dominican College continued from their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) encounter as the Lady Chargers held a tight 3-2 halftime advantage in this afternoon's series finale. However, the second half was a different story as the Lady Chargers led the Griffins to an 11-7 final. Sophomore midfielder Brianne Timony (Allentown, NJ) led a late rally, but not enough time remained to deny the Lady Chargers victory.

Junior midfielder Aubree Williams (Great Meadows, NJ) bookended a goal from senior midfielder Jillian Sanger (Bowmansville, PA) and Dominican College (6-2, 5-1) was out to a 2-1 lead with 20:24 remaining in the opening half. Exactly eight minutes later (12:24), sophomore midfielder Lindsay Alexander (Huntingdon Valley, PA) tied the affair for Chestnut Hill College (3-6, 2-4), but the stalemate did not last until halftime as a goal from sophomore attack Brianna Blank (Point Pleasant, NJ) separated the Lady Chargers in the final 36 seconds of first-half play.

After intermission, Lady Chargers used their momentum to build an 8-4 lead midway through the second half (15:14). As the clock wound down Timony looked to bring the Griffins back for glory. She netted two goals and assisted on a third in the final 15 minutes, but the Lady Chargers did not fade as sophomore attack Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, NY) captained the saving effort. Fiorvanti was everywhere, totaling two goals, an assist, three ground balls, four draws, and two caused turnovers. Her effort was supported by freshman defender Olivia Antonopoulos (Baldwin, NY), who recorded five ground balls and four draws. Freshman goalkeeper Amanda Caprio (Point Pleasant, NJ) earned the win (6-2) with nine saves and a ground ball.

Timony totaled four points to lead the Griffins; she also hustled to two draws. Alexander added two ground balls and two draw controls to her goal, while Sanger recovered two ground balls to go with her tally. Sophomore attack Christina Squillante (Kings Park, NY) scored two goals and junior goalkeeper Jenn Delahanty (Staten Island, NY) took the loss (1-5) despite totaling 15 saves and five ground balls.

The women's lacrosse team returns home to host Post University in their next CACC contest. The game is schedule for a 1:00 p.m. opening draw on Saturday, April 9.
