Millersville, PA – (4/23/2012) – Early first-half goals guided Millersville University to a 15-6 win over Chestnut Hill College in this afternoon's contest. The Marauders rattled off the affair's first three goals in the opening five minutes and used a balanced attack to pace the Griffins to the final horn. Junior midfielder
Erica Eaby (Lancaster, PA) led the Griffin effort with two goals, five ground balls, and four caused turnovers.
Three unassisted goals came from the Millersville University (6-10) sticks came at 29:32, 27:48, and 24:56 to give the home team an early 3-0 edge on Chestnut Hill College (2-13). Junior attack
Nicole Covella (Vineland, NJ) broke the Griffin silence soon after the third Marauder goal (24:33), cutting the deficit to 3-1 with her 25
th goal of the season. Unfortunately, another four-goal Marauder run made it 7-1, before the Griffins could answer on an Eaby free position goal at 6:45, 7-2. The Marauders were able to add two more goals before intermission with junior midfielder Ashley Henderson (Folsom, PA) striking at the beginning (0:59) and end (0:01) of the half's final minute, 9-2. The second half began similar to the first, as the Marauders extended their lead to 13-3 before Eaby, Covella, and senior attack
Kelly McKay (Perkasie, PA) helped the Griffins outscore the Marauders the rest of the way, 15-6.
Henderson totaled three goals, three ground balls, four draws, and two caused turnovers, but it was sophomore attack Caitlin Shannon (Neshanic Station, NJ) who led the Marauders scoring with four goals. Junior goalkeeper Lauren Mateja (King of Prussia, PA) made 12 saves and recovered six ground balls in the win (6-10).

Kelsey Moran (Herndon, VA) helped Eaby on the defensive end. Campbell recorded four ground balls and two caused turnovers while Moran offered three caused turnovers and a ground ball.
