Easton, Mass. – (4/27/2013) – A year removed from serving as Chestnut Hill College's first program to reach a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II Championship Tournament, the women's tennis team becomes the first to collect a NCAA postseason victory with today's 5-3 win at #4 Stonehill College. The triumph earns #5 Chestnut Hill College the right to face the face, NCAA East Regional, #1 New York Institute of Technology in a 9:00 a.m. match tomorrow, Sunday, April 28.

Morgan Oechsle (Coopersburg, Pa.) wrapped their match up early, giving the Griffins the initial advantage, 1-0, with an 8-2 win at number two doubles.
With a rallying effort, the Griffins made up the ground and more as individuals. The Skyhawks first extended their lead to 3-1 when freshman Analise Kump (Falmouth, Maine) defeated senior
Danielle Knott (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) at number six singles 6-0, 6-0. But their advantage soon vanished as the Griffins won the next three points at number three, five, and four singles, before Dennis' 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 win at number two singles sealed the victory. Senior
Maria Parapouras (Victoria, Australia) won the point at number three singles 6-4, 6-3, freshman
Iman Williams-Mulesa (Pickering, Ontario) then claimed number five singles 6-1, 6-2, and pushing the lead to 4-3 Griffins, Oechsle took number four singles 6-1, 5-7, 6-2.
The winner of tomorrow's 9:00 a.m. NCAA DII East Region 1 Championship match against the Bears will earn a trip to Surprise, Arizona, for the remainder of the NCAA DII Women's Tennis Championships.
