2/1/2014 9:25:00 PM

Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. - (2/1/2014) – Junior guard Christian Walck (Lancaster, Pa.) did all he could, but a 62.6% (28-of-45) team shooting performance from Dominican College eventually overwhelmed Chestnut Hill College to the tune of a 92-79 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) final. Walck scored 19 second-half points and finished with a career-high 24 points, hitting 6-of-15 (.400) from the floor, 2-of-5 (.400) from three-point range, and 10-of-12 (.833) from the free throw line while also offering an assist and four steals.

Despite the hot hand, 65.2% (15-of-23) from the floor, Dominican College (13-6, 9-3) only held a three-point halftime advantage, 44-41, over Chestnut Hill College (6-13, 4-8). In the second half, Walck went right to work, scoring the Griffins first six points of the period and giving them a three-point advantage, 54-51, with 15:16 left to play. Unfortunately, the Chargers found an answer in senior forward Justin Turner (Turnbull, Conn.), who scored eight straight Charger points to bring the visitors to a 58-54 advantage at 12:25. Walck continued to take the ball to the rim and he helped the Griffins keep pace until 3:22, 81-77, when the Chargers separated on an 11-2 closing run, 92-79.

Turner's 22 points led the Chargers, but it was 14 timely points from junior forward Nick Smith (Middletown, N.Y.) that triggered their late run. Two other Chargers finished in double figures as sophomore guard Justin Ringen (Greenlawn, N.Y.) and senior guard Khaleev Ginyard (Brentwood, N.Y.) finished with 15 points and 13 points, respectively.

Graduate guard Taylor Trevisan (West Chester, Pa.) helped Walck with 17 points, six rebounds, and four assists. As did freshman forward Carson Murphy (Mohawk, N.Y.), who recorded 12 points, six rebounds, three assists, and a steal.

The men's basketball team plays next on Wednesday, February 5, when they visit the University of the Sciences for a CACC contest.
