Lady Rams Run Griffins off Ravenhill

Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. - (4/18/2014) – Chestnut Hill College found themselves outmatched in today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at Ravenhill Field as Philadelphia University lead 7-1 after the opening ten minutes (20:51), 12-3 at halftime, and 20-7 by the final buzzer. Six different Griffins scored; freshman midfielder Alicia Herbert (Little Egg Harbor, N.J.) led the group with two goals, two ground balls, a draw, and two caused turnovers.
 
For Philadelphia University (13-1, 10-0), junior midfielder Lauren Hartman (Sewell, N.J.) was the point person. She totaled four assists in the Lady Rams opening 7-0 run that was interrupted at 20:51 by senior attack Kelsey Moran (Herndon, Va.), 7-1, and followed by an exchange of goals that included strikes from senior defender KarlaAne Klouda (Belvidere, N.J.) and Herbert that left the spread at 9-3 heading to the final seven minutes of the first half (7:01). The Lady Rams began another run before halftime. The spread reached nine goals, 12-3, by halftime and continued on to 16 goals, 19-3, with 13:03 left to play. Chestnut Hill College (3-13, 3-7 CACC) offered a final push, but only managed to trim the deficit to 13 goals, 20-7, by game's end.
 
Hartman finished with nine points on three goals and six assists. She also recovered two ground balls for the Lady Rams. Junior attack Allison Brian (Lancaster, Pa.) scored six goals, contributed an assist, and caused two turnovers while junior goalkeeper Kristen Moran (Walden, N.Y.) made five saves and grabbed two ground balls in the win (13-1).
 
Helping Herbert, freshman midfielder Lea Sanders (North Merrick, N.Y) recorded a goal, two ground balls, four draws, and a caused turnover. Freshman midfielder Samantha Herron (Cinnaminson, N.J.) hustled to six draw controls while Klouda added a ground ball, a draw, and a caused turnover to her tally. Freshman goalkeeper Katie Joe Lang (Manassas, Va.) made ten saves and recovered five ground balls in the losing effort (3-12).
 
The women's lacrosse team concludes their 2014 schedule with a 4:00 p.m. CACC contest at Holy Family University on Tuesday, April 22.
