4/19/2014 8:35:00 PM

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Bronxville, N.Y. – (4/19/2014) – In a doubleheader where runs were hard to come by, the chips fell in the home team's favor as Chestnut Hill College dropped a pair of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contests at Concordia College; 2-1 and 4-1. For the Griffins, freshman pitcher Briannen Holloway (Corona, Calif.), sophomore pitcher Courtney Dayter (Cohoes, N.Y.) commanded the circle, while sophomore second baseman Julie Heaton (Berlin, N.J.) recorded three hits in game one, and senior first baseman Giana Cavallo (Turnersville, Pa.) offered a game-two, run-scoring single.

In the opener, Concordia College (5-18, 4-14) broke a scoreless pitcher's duel with two sixth-inning runs outdoing a seventh-inning run-batted-in (RBI) single from sophomore catcher Sofia Cedrone (Philadelphia, Pa.). Holloway (3-11) allowed one earned run on four hits and three walks while striking out five.

Then in game two, errors were Chestnut Hill College's (6-24, 6-16) undoing with the Clippers scoring twice in the third inning, 2-0, and  twice in the fourth inning, 4-1, on four hits and three Griffin errors. Cavallo's RBI single came in the top of the fourth inning, when freshman center fielder Ashleigh Sharp (Dresher, Pa.) scored from second base after a lead-off, bunt-single, a pop-out to short, stolen base. Dayter (2-8) allowed one earned run on four hits and four walks while striking out eight.

The softball team returns to campus to host cross-city rival, Philadelphia University in a 3:00 p.m. CACC doubleheader on Tuesday, April 22.
