Old Westbury, N.Y. – (5/3/2014) – Entering National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II (NCAADII) East Regional play, the Chestnut Hill College women's and men's tennis teams visited the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) for respective matches versus #5 Merrimack College and #6 Adelphi University. The Griffins women opened the day of regional tennis play with a 5-0 victory over the Warriors while the men won an afternoon match over the Panthers, 5-1.

Kelly Dennis (Cincinnati, Ohio) and sophomore
Iman Williams-Mulesa (Pickering, Ontario) scored the first Griffin point of the 2014 NCAADII East Regional with an 8-3 win at number two doubles. Chestnut Hill College (19-9) went up 2-0 with an 8-6 win at number three doubles from junior
Morgan Oechsle (Coopersburg, Pa.) and sophomore
Axe Owens (Trenton, N.J.). Junior
Charlotte Dawson (Odessa, Texas) and freshman
Marie Deleval (Grimaud, France) finished the sweep with a 9-7 win. The individual round only required two matches to end as the Griffins secured a 5-0 victory with wins from Dawson, 6-2, 6-3, and Owens, 6-2, 6-0, at number one and number six singles, respectively.
The Chestnut Hill College (21-6) men held a 2-1 advantage after doubles play with the Panthers. Senior

Steven Say (Cannes, France) were the first to finish, taking down the top team flight with an 8-0 win. Freshman
Mariano Porter (Cuernavaca, Mexico) and senior
Anthony Moore (Williamstown, N.J.) followed with an identical 8-0 win at number two doubles, but number three doubles the Griffins were not as fortunate with junior
Michael Humes (Mt. Laurel, N.J.) and senior
Manuel Ceniceros (Mexico City, Mexico) dropping the third team flight, 8-6. As play moved to individual play, the Griffins quickly separated from the Panthers with wins in the third, second, and first singles matches. Say was the first to score an individual win with his 6-2, 6-0 triumph at number three singles. Number two singles was next to fall with Pham providing a point, 6-3, 6-0, before Porter delivered the final one with a 6-0, 6-0, win at number one singles.
The Chestnut Hill College men's tennis and women's tennis teams continue play in the East Regional of the NCAA DII Tennis Championships tomorrow Sunday, May 4, with respective 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. matches against their hosts, #1 NYIT.
