Box Score Princeton, N.J. - (11/6/2015) – A fantastic fourth quarter finish left Princeton University winless for one more night as sophomore defensive end Josean Perez (Bethlehem, Pa.) recovered a fumble for an 85-yard touchdown retrun that delivered Chestnut Hill College a late 42-36 advantage over the hosting Tigers. The point-after turned out to be two with a conversion from freshman quarterback Reginald Robinson Jr. (Germantown, Md.) to freshman halfback Theophilus McBurnette (Ketchikan, Alaska) leaving Chestnut Hill College to a 44-36 victory and a 3-2 inaugural season. Robinson ran for two touchdowns and efficiently threw for 155 yards and two more scores, completing 7-of-11 passes. One was a 25-yard toss to freshman receiver Raevon Floyd-Bennett (Union City, N.J.), who led the Griffins with 229 all-purpose yards on a renaissance effort.
 
Princeton University (0-5) look determined to get revenge on Griffins' first-year program with an impressive opening drive that put them on the scoreboard with an initial 14-yard rush from junior quarterback Chad Cowden (Boonsboro, Md.) and a 58-yard scoring pass to senior receiver Patrick Yu (Ashburn, Va.) serving as the signature plays in the series, 6-0. The ensuing extra point was blocked by Chestnut Hill College (3-2) freshman safety Billy Boone Costa (Jersey Shore, Pa.), but an interception by the Tigers' Emanuel Castaneda (Marshall, Va.) on the Griffins' first possession gave them no chance for an answer while leaving the home team in great field position. The Tigers took advantage, quickly adding to their lead with a 41-yard touchdown pass and converted try putting the home side up 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.
 
Chestnut Hill College started to get their feet under them at the end of the opening frame as Robinson orchestrated a seven-play, 82-yard touchdown drive that ended with the Griffin play caller running one in himself from the Tiger three-yard line, 14-6, just seconds into the second frame. Senior Cody Bloom (San Diego, Calif.) kicked the extra point through the up-rights and immediately boomed a 52-yard kickoff that came most of the way back on a 39-yard return by freshman Ian Lawrie (Hague, N.Y.).
 
Starting on the Griffins' side of the field, the Tigers answered the Chestnut Hill College tally with another long score, this one a 33-yard scramble by Cowden that left the visitors down 20-7 after a failed two-point toss. Two possessions later the Griffins were able to provide a response as a 13-yard punt gave the Griffins a first down at the Princeton 15-yard line. A pair of strong second and third down rushes from Costa on moved the ball to the Princeton two-yard line before Robinson carried the rock in for his second rushing touchdown of the game, 20-14.
 
Unfortunately, the Griffins could not hold the six-point deficit until halftime as a blocked punt in the final minutes of the half facilitated a Tiger safety that left the intermission spread at 22-14. The Griffins' prospects dimmed even more with the Tigers scoring on their first possession of the second half, 28-14, but soon after Floyd-Bennet went to work. On the very next play from scrimmage, he immediately raised Chestnut Hill College's spirit with a 63-yard touchdown run that narrowed the gap to 28-20 heading to the fourth quarter. There, the scoring came more frequently with Princeton University ending an 80-yard third-quarter drive with a five-yard Castaneda touchdown run, 36-20, before two passes from Robinson to Floyd-Bennett covered 57 yards and precipitated a score that left the Griffins within range, 36-28. The Tigers hoped to quiet the rally but only fed the fire as their ensuing drive failed at the Chestnut Hill College 14-yard line and transfered momentum to the Scarlet and Gold.
 
With just over ten minutes to play (10:11), Robinson captained an 82-yard game-tying drive that found sophomore wide receiver Domoree Hill (Bethlehem, Pa.) in the back of the end zone for his team-high fourth touchdown of the season, 36-36. Determined to find that elusive victory, Cowden retorted with a 47-yard drive that appeared promising until a stick by freshman nose guard Brian Layden (Springfield, Pa.) knocked the ball loose for the game-winning 82-yard scoop an score from Perez, 44-36.
 
Floyd-Bennett's 64-yard scamper topped the Griffins rushing statistics, but freshman back Dasantae Callis (Folsom, Pa.) was the primary carrier with 53 rushing yards on 13 attempts. The Griffins ran for 172 yards on 37 carries, scoring three times on a 3.5 yards-per-carry average. Hill caught four balls for 112 yards and a touchdown while Floyd-Bennett accounted for the other 74 yards on four catches of his own; one was the 25-yard touchdown grab that ignited the Griffins' fourth-quarter reprise. Defensively, Layden led the Griffins with ten tackles, a sack, and the game-winning forced fumble. Floyd-Bennett recorded three tackles and picked Cowden off twice for an additional 54 yards in returns.    
 
Leaving the Chestnut Hill College faithful with a thirst for more, Head Coach Mike Pearson and the Griffins completed their first Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) season with a 3-2 standing and a solid foundation for the many seasons to come.
